Many quality Echo education opportunities are available providing meaningful professional development for both sonographers and physicians all around the globe. The coming months are a particularly exciting time for echo education in my part of the world. Here are just a few of the stand-out events on offer for May – July, 2017. I hope to see you out there…
ASUM NZ – 2017
The New Zealand branch of the Australian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) is incorporating a cardiac component to their conference for the first time. The cardiac days attached to the Australian ASUM conference are always excellent and this promises to be just as impressive. Invited speakers include well known educator and author Bonita Anderson, Dr Josh Martin, Kate Wilkinson, Belinda Buckley and Dr Christina Chan. A very impressive line-up!
There is also a hands-on 3D and Strain imaging workshop the following day, proudly sponsored by Phillips (LifeHealthcare) to develop your advanced techniques skill set. Click for more info…
The conference is hosted in the beautiful city of Christchurch and is the perfect gateway for a south island NZ adventure for those lucky enough to have a bit of time to enjoy the country. Plan the adventure today!
ASA – Brisbane 2017
This is a personal favorite of mine. As past president of the Australasian Sonographers Association (ASA), this is a conference that I hold dear to my heart. This year’s conference is in my hometown Brisbane and is shaping up to be an absolutely fantastic event. The cardiac program is held over two days and is filled with high quality speakers, including Dr Sushil Allen Luis (Mayo Clinic), Dr David Platts (TPCH), Dr Elizabeth Donnelly (QLD Cardiovascular Group) and Dr Rebecca Perry (Flinders University). There is also a practical workshop component on the Sunday.
… and make sure you grab a ticket for the gala ball. ALWAYS a great night!
SHDA Adult Congenital and Rheumatic Heart Symposium 2017
Structural Heart Disease Australia (SHDA) is an educational site focused on valvular and structural cardiac diseases. They organised some really enjoyable events last year including a mitral valve symposium and left atrium symposium. This year they have put together a great program exploring adult congenital and rheumatic heart disease. Standout invited speakers include stellar sonographer educators Ruth Ramm (EchoEd) and Cathy West (Royal Brompton, London). It is an area that I could really do with the up-skilling!!
Date: Saturday 29th July 2017
Venue: Sydney University, New Law Annex, Law Lecture Room 101.
